Hey Million Minds family!
Summer slow periods are data. They're telling you something about how your business is structured, specifically:
- Are you too dependent on one offer? If one thing dries up, everything dries up.
- Do you have recurring revenue? Retainers, memberships, and communities are what keep the baseline stable when new sales flatten.
- Is your pricing doing the work? One high-ticket client in June pays what three mid-tier clients might not bring in. The slower the season, the more your pricing needs to carry weight.
Before Summer Hits (The Setup Work)
Front-load your pipeline now. Q2 is your runway. If you're not closing April and May hard, you're going to feel that gap in July. The goal is to have retainers, deposits, and commitments in place before June 1, not during it.
Lock in payment structures that carry you. For high-ticket, this means restructuring any remaining pay-in-full offers into payment plans that span June, July, and August. You want recurring revenue hitting your account even when new sales slow down.
Finish your backend before summer arrives. Any systems, automations, client onboarding docs, or infrastructure you've been putting off, summer is NOT the time to build under pressure. Do it now so the season is actually lighter.
During Summer (The Revenue Plays)
Introduce a mid-tier or bridge offer. Your high-ticket buyers may pause, but their networks are still curious. A lower-commitment entry point, a workshop, a diagnostic, a one-day intensive, keeps people in your ecosystem and converts them in fall.
Run a warm audience campaign, not a cold one. Summer is not lead gen season for most high-ticket buyers. It IS the right time to re-engage past clients, dormant leads, and people who've been watching but haven't moved. Your warm list is cheaper and faster to convert.
Create a summer-specific urgency window. A "before Q3 ends" positioning gives buyers a reason to move now rather than wait until September. Framing the offer as prep for their own fall push makes it a business decision, not a personal one.
Raise your visibility without raising your workload. This is the season for content batching, podcast guesting, and collaboration. You're showing up consistently without burning out on delivery. Visibility in summer = inbound in fall.
The Mindset Reframe That Changes the Strategy
Most providers try to outwork the slow season. The smarter play is to use it. Summer is when you:
- Build the thing you've been postponing
- Rest so Q4 doesn't break you
- Audit what's working before you scale it
- Have the strategy conversations your clients need before they start spending again in September
The providers who come out of summer ahead are the ones who treated it like a sprint prep, not a loss.
Summer doesn't have to be a gap, it just requires a different kind of intentionality than the rest of the year. The business doesn't slow down, the buyer behavior shifts. Your job is to build a model that accounts for that shift before it arrives.
